Midgets win Oakville gold
The Midget HL 506 Dyn-o-mite (Coaches Shier and Driscoll) won their second tournament of the season capturing the gold in the intermediate division of the Oakville Hornets tournament on February 25/26/27. It took 5 very challenging games against Hamilton, Oakville, Mississauga, London and finally Oshawa to capture top honours. Memorable events included 2 goals from Carolyn Shier to capture the roundrobin pool in a 2-2 tie with Mississauga, goalie Caitlyn Woodroof stopping a penalty shot in the last minute of the semi-final to hold on to a 2-1 victory over London, and a come from behind 3-2 victory in the final, with 3 goals in the last 5 minutes from Robyn Laing. The team recently captured the intermediate division gold in the Kingston Icewolves tournament in January.

Stoney Creek Tournament Champions
On February 11, 12, and 13, the Central York Panthers Peewee house League Team 302 took part in the Stoney Creek Sweetheart hockey tournament. The division consisted of ten different teams.
After the round-robin play, the Panthers found themselves in first place with an undefeated record.
In the semi-final game against Stoney Creek, the girls fought back from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3. Alessandra Longhin scored two goals, while Cassandra Pavlou and Kristen Wansbrough each contributed one.
The girls then found themselves facing a very strong skating team from Glencoe. The panthers took the lead by a goal from Jessica Nerling. Glencoe then answered with a goal themselves. Late in the third period, Kristen Wansbrough scored to again give the Panthers the lead, but Glencoe immediately answered with one of their own. Only through the strong defensive play by the Panthers did the score remain tied through four minutes of overtime play.
The shoot-out that then followed continued the out-standing goal tending of Madelynne Macauley as she stopped all three of Glencoes shotes. Kristen Wansbrough scored the lone Panther goal in the shoot-out for the Panthers to win the tournament.

On January 16, Midget house league team 506 won gold at the Kingston Ice Wolves Cup.
